Aaron from Kansas and Shannon from South Texas met while studying for the ministry at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU). We are blessed to have two smart, hilarious boys who are chips off these old blocks. Connor graduates SAGU at the end of April and gets married this December. Asher is nearly halfway through high school in Hungary before he, too, attends SAGU (at least for his first year).
Our long-term mission here in Hungary is to mobilize (recruit, equip, and train) believers for outreach and missions. Returning to Hungary in August 2021, we were focused on starting more 'Round the Table outreaches—draw-activity groups that always end with a gospel-truth God Chat. But in May 2022, God used a business-as-missions Q&A at a retreat to challenge us to think grander.
Instead of renting a generic space by the hour for our outreaches only, what if we opened a dedicated outreach center for use 6 days a week by us as well as by other evangelical churches/ministries? This high-visibility, high-traffic facility—a rarity for churches here in Hungary—could host morning clubs for moms, after-school programs for kids and teens, RTT outreaches for teens and adults, Christian support groups, Alpha course, discipleship classes, and praise & prayer nights for so-to-be church plants.
We're working to open our first center in the Érd area, a district of over 116,000 on the outskirts of Budapest. The aim is to have several centers up and running under Hungarian leadership before our next furlough in 2025.
